LEEWARD HEALTH STUDIO
In our initial meeting, Ruth + Liz described wanting their health studio to have nautical themes without being too on the nose. They also have a strong personal connection to Oaxaca Mexico and wanted to incorporate elements of colour, textiles and decor into the design aesthetics. We wanted to build a creative, eclectic space that sets itself apart from the others and stands on its own.
We went with an Oaxaca themed colour story that also reads earthy and coastal. The teak mid century modern pieces reminded us of vintage sailboat decks. For a bit of fun, we brought in vintage decor pieces for a little bit of kitch, but also modern touches for a cool and eclectic design overall.
We incorporated murals for some whimsy, originality and to tell a story. The waviness of the motifs play off the Leeward meaning of being βdownwindβ that also reflects a Oaxaca vibe, combining the 2 themes.
